Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas wins TEDC Award |
The Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) held its annual conference announcing
the recipients of the 2024 Workforce Excellence Awards. Seven winners were honored
in their respective population categories, and fifteen additional nominees were
recognized for their exceptional workforce projects.
This year, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, Orange County along with Golden Triangle Polymers
were amongst the winners for their collaborative efforts on the Local First project in Orange County.
This initiative focuses on hiring local skilled labor workers first, showcasing a strong commitment
to supporting the local workforce.

Celebrating the Success of the 2024 Teacher Externship Program
The 2024 Teacher Externship Program hosted 70 dedicated teachers from 13 school districts
across Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin counties teamed up with 16 host sites to gain
real-world industry experience.
Throughout the program, educators worked alongside professionals in diverse sectors
such as petrochemical, healthcare, manufacturing, and maritime. They engaged in hands-on
activities, observed industry practices, and created a lesson plan that would introduce
students to high-demand jobs.

Workforce Connects: Family Fun Day
Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas is proud to be a member of the SETX Strong Families
Coalition where our focus is to align community resources to strengthen the whole family.
On Saturday, June 8th Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas participated in the SETX Strong
Families Family Fun Day held at the Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club. More than 300
families pre-registered and over 15 community resources with interactive booths and
information. Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas had the opportunity to share information
on Workforce services, Childcare services, and Vocational Rehabilitation services. The
free fun filled day included lunch, petting zoo, gaming truck, train, and sweet cold
treats. SETX Strong Families Coalition and Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas' next
event will be the Family Summit in August with speakers and breakout sessions for all
ages. We are excited to be a part of the SETX Strong Families Coalition and partner with
so many amazing community resources that are available to all the families in Southeast Texas.

in demand occupations in Southeast Texas. The "Make Macy Do It" segment will
air the third Tuesday of each month on the KFDM Morning Show and at 9:00 pm on
FOX 4. For an employer to participate in "Make Macy Do It" the company must list
