Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas wins TEDC Award |
The Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) held its annual conference announcing
the recipients of the 2024 Workforce Excellence Awards. Seven winners were honored
in their respective population categories, and fifteen additional nominees were
recognized for their exceptional workforce projects.
This year, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, Orange County along with Golden Triangle Polymers
were amongst the winners for their collaborative efforts on the Local First project in Orange County.
This initiative focuses on hiring local skilled labor workers first, showcasing a strong commitment
to supporting the local workforce.
The award program highlights the significant contributions of Texas communities and regions
that have successfully implemented workforce initiatives. The TEDC's Workforce Development
Committee evaluated the nominees based on five key criteria: innovativeness, transferability,
community commitment and leverage, measured objectives, and secondary benefits.
Carlton Schwab, President/CEO of the TEDC, remarked, "The Workforce Excellence Award is one of
the ways our organization celebrates the remarkable efforts of our communities and regions,
their leaders, and economic development professionals in workforce development."
Founded in 1961, the TEDC offers information, education, and legislative services to its members,
supporting the expansion of existing businesses, the establishment of new firms, and the creation
of strategies to promote a favorable business environment in Texas. With approximately 1,100
members, the TEDC stands as the largest state economic development association in the country.
