Over $790,000 in Career Training Grants Awarded to Southeast Texas Schools |
Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas is pleased to announce that four local schools have been awarded a total of $794,546
in Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants through the Texas Workforce Commission. These grants will support career
and technical education (CTE) programs aimed at preparing students for high-demand, well-paying careers in our region.
The funding will enable these schools to purchase and install critical equipment necessary for training more than 260
students in key fields such as welding, nursing, and other technical occupations that are vital to the Southeast
Texas workforce. By enhancing hands-on learning opportunities, these grants help ensure that students graduate with the
skills and knowledge that local employers require.

In the latest Southeast Texas Works podcast episode, we highlighted the Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas 2025 Teacher Externship
Program and Valero Port Arthur Refinery's role as one of 15 employer host sites.
This year, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, hosted the Teacher Externship program from June 2nd through June 6th, 2025, placing
70 middle and high school teachers from 14 school districts into job shadowing experiences across key industries such as petrochemical,
healthcare, manufacturing, maritime, and education.

Workforce Connects: 409 Energy Scholars: Preparing Students to Network for Success
On June 12, 2025, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas proudly partnered with ExxonMobil's 409 Energy Scholars program
to help shape the future of the regional workforce. This initiative brought together 30 high-potential students from
Beaumont ISD-rising seniors and recent graduates-for an immersive experience in STEM career exploration.

Take Note: Support Second Chances—At No Risk to You
The Fidelity Bonding Program, offered through the Texas Workforce Commission, provides employers with free bonding on eligible
job applicants who may be considered at-risk, including those with justice-involved backgrounds.
The bond, issued by Union Insurance Group, protects employers for up to six months against potential losses due to employee
dishonesty such as theft or embezzlement at no cost to the employer.
