Celebrating Workforce Development Month with Second Chance Success |
September is recognized nationwide as Workforce Development Month, a time to highlight the partnerships, services, and people
who are building stronger communities through skills development and career opportunities. Workforce Solutions Southeast
Texas is proud to showcase one such success that took place in August at the Federal Corrections Institute (FCI) in Beaumont.
Forty-seven (47) individuals have graduated from the Partners for Reentry Opportunities in Workforce Development (PROWD)
program, earning a Level 1 Welding Certification. This certificate represents opportunity, growth, and the possibility
of a fresh start. Participants will be able to use their certification to pursue employment in the welding field once they
reenter the workforce, creating pathways to stability and independence.
This achievement was the result of five training cohorts, made possible through partnership with Lamar State College Port Arthur,
which provided the instruction and technical expertise needed to prepare participants for certification. By working together, our
community partners ensured these individuals had access to high-quality training in an in-demand occupation.
The PROWD program is specifically designed to support justice-involved individuals by connecting them with skills, certifications,
and resources that improve their employability. Programs like this reinforce the core mission of Workforce Development
Month—building futures through training, education, and partnerships.
As we celebrate Workforce Development Month, we recognize the graduates of this program for their dedication and resilience,
and we applaud the collaborative efforts that made their success possible. Their accomplishment is a reminder that workforce
development is not just about training for jobs, it's about creating opportunities for second chances, stronger families, and a
more skilled Southeast Texas workforce.
