Employers - Utilize Virtual Business Forums to Highlight Industry Needs

The Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas virtual business forums for
employers return in October. As part of its strategic plan, the
workforce board is engaging business leaders in essential industries
to gather their input through polling questions and group discussions.
Forums will take place during the month of October for the healthcare, education,
manufacturing, and transportation industries.
These forums allow employers to share their operational and skilled talent needs
through direct participation by providing the board with valuable local wisdom to
help create a winning approach to on-going workforce development strategies.
"We are connecting with employers in various industries through our October business forums,"
said Mary Hammon, executive director of Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas.
"Participating employers have an opportunity to share their workforce needs and
suggestions on how we can continue to improve our partnership and services."
Additionally, key leaders in each of these industries will be sharing brief industry
updates from their organization's perspective.
The healthcare industry forum will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 1:00 p.m. with
updates from Dr. Cynthia Stinson, Chair, Dishman School Nursing and Dr. Chisholm-Springer,
Director of Nursing Allied Health at Lamar Institute of Technology.

The education industry forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 9:00 a.m.
Dr. Shannon Allen, Superintendent, Beaumont Independent School District and
Dr. Wendy Elmore, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and
Student Affairs, Lamar State College Orange, will provide updates.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m., the manufacturing industry forum will take place.
Howard Bailey, Golden Triangle FAME Chapter and Paul Blackburn, Customer Service
Manager, Entergy, will share updates with the group.

The transportation industry forum will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 1:00pm.
with information on current activities provided by Larry Kelley, Port Director/CEO,
Port of Port Arthur and Dr. Ben Stafford, Vice President for Workforce and Continuing
Education for Lamar State College Port Arthur.
