Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas announces a partnership with the Silsbee Library for use of its facility space to provide workforce services and support for residents in Hardin County. The memorandum of understanding between the City of Silsbee and Workforce Solutions outlines expectations for the utilization of library space which includes four (4) computer stations with Internet connection. One (1) workforce staff person will be available each day to work with individuals to provide career services including job search and placement assistance, resume preparation, interviewing techniques, training and skills certification opportunities, and access to local labor market information.

On Thursday, September 29th, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas staff and a host of volunteers and Exhibitors are set to greet over 3,500 local high school students at the Youth Career Expo at Ford Park. The Expo will have more than 120 Exhibition booths representing businesses, universities, military/armed services, training institutions, career technical schools, and training and apprenticeship programs. Booths will be arranged according to occupational clusters.
Myrna Harris, workforce business consultant and event manager, has sent confirmations and set-up details to this year's Exhibitors. "We have more Exhibitors this year and have added a new section on the Expo floor for Recruiters from several colleges and universities", Harris stated. With the increased number of students, additional volunteers have been placed in the Student Orientation sessions.

The August 2016 unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) for Southeast Texas was 7.5 percent, up .1 percent from July 2016 and a full percentage point higher that this time last year.
