Southeast Texas Workforce Centers Re-Open to the Public
On September 29, 2020, executive director Marilyn Smith announced the reopening of the Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Centers in Beaumont and Port Arthur. Based on Governor Greg Abbott's updated "Open Texas" guidelines and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the workforce centers are operating as follows:
  • Masks are mandated for all Customers (job seekers and employers) and staff
  • Plexi-glass sneeze guards have been installed at all staff desks and the front receptions desks in the Centers
  • Hand sanitizing stations are placed throughout each facility for use by Customers and staff
  • Social distancing decals are strategically placed to guide Customers while in the Centers
  • Resource Room computer stations and surrounding areas are cleaned frequently and after each Customer's use
Additionally, workforce center staff are responsible for controlling the number of Customers in the Centers to ensure alignment to capacity limits and social distancing requirements. Due to the physical size of the Orange Workforce Solutions office, located at 2415 North 6th Street, staff will assist Customers in-person by appointment only, with no more than five (5) Customers in the Center at one time. The Silsbee Workforce site, located in the Silsbee Public Library, remains closed. Hardin County job seekers and businesses requiring workforce services are encouraged to contact our Regional Career Specialists at 1-877-834-5627. Live CHAT is also available at www.setworks.org.

"We urge everyone to familiarize themselves with the most current CDC guidelines to ensure awareness of their individual personal responsibility in minimizing the spread of COVID-19", stated Smith.

The reopening of the Beaumont and Port Arthur workforce centers align with the Texas Workforce Commission's reinstatement of work search requirements for individuals receiving Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits. Effective November, 1, 2020, a minimum of three (3) work searches will be required for UI claimants in Southeast Texas. Employers are encouraged to post their available employment opportunities, at no charge, in WorkInTexas.com to take advantage of the expected increase in available workers.
