New Grant helps to meet Industrial Workforce Needs

Workforce development in partnership with industry received a positive boost as Governor Greg Abbott ceremoniously signed House Bill 2784 into law on October 24, 2019. Governor Abbott signed the bill at the S & B Engineers and Constructors' Craft Education and Skills Enhancement Center in Baytown, Texas. The governor expressed his thoughts on the strong Texas economy and explained to the hundreds of onlookers how the legislation will enhance "Texas' most valuable resources, a highly skilled workforce."

House bill 2784, sponsored in recent legislative session by State Senator Carol Alvarado and State Representative Dade Phelan, created the Texas Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs Grant Program in the Texas Workforce Commission.
