13th Annual Hiring Red, White & You! Veterans Job Fair Success! |
The Hiring Red, White & You! Veterans Job Fair is an annual statewide event
designed to honor veterans, military spouses, and their families, and the public
while providing opportunities to connect with employers across Texas. Hosted by
workforce boards between November 1- November 22, the initiative aims to assist
veterans in their transition to civilian life by facilitating meaningful connections
with employers in the communities they wish to call home.
Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas proudly hosted its 2024 HRWY Veterans Job Fair on
November 7 at the Orange Workforce Center. The event welcomed more than 85 job seekers,
including over 30 veterans. These veterans and their eligible spouses had the opportunity
to engage directly with 20 employers representing vital industries in Southeast Texas,
such as petrochemical, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and medical. Employers
valued the chance to meet with veterans, discuss their military-acquired skills and abilities,
and explore potential job opportunities within their organizations.
The job fair highlighted Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas's commitment to prioritizing
veterans and their families. Veterans receive priority services year-round for workforce
resources, including job search assistance, resume development, and training opportunities
tailored to meet their specific needs.
In addition to the employer-veteran connections, the event featured Texas Workforce Commission
(TWC) Unemployment Representative John Riojas. Mr. Riojas spoke with representatives from
Southeast Texas employers in attendance and answered unemployment-related questions.
The HRWY initiative serves as a testament to the ongoing support for veterans and their
families, providing them with the tools they need to transition into rewarding careers while
helping local employers discover talented and dedicated candidates.
