DuPont Selected as Local Employer of Excellence for Southeast Texas

Dupont Sabine River Works is the 2014 Local Employer of Excellence for Southeast Texas Congratulations are in order for Dupont Sabine River Works for selection as the Local Employer of Excellence for Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas. Sally Barrett, Human Resources Coordinator for the refinery represented Dupont SRW at the 2014 Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Awards Luncheon in Grapevine Texas on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Dupont SRW produces ethylene copolymers for packing and industrial uses. Barrett continues to partner with local workforce development to hire skilled workers, including veterans, for its jobs. Each of the 28 workforce boards selects an employer for the award which recognizes a private-sector business that positively impacts workers attaining upgraded skills, working effectively with other partners, in addition to being actively involved in the local community.


Workforce Wins Performance Award

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas was recognized for outstanding board performance with a $30,000.00 Incentive Award for Claimant Reemployment. This performance is defined as the percent of UI Claimants reemployed within a specified timeframe after receiving their initial unemployment benefits payment. Over 12,000 UI claimants received assistance through the local Workforce Centers and the Workforce Center on Wheels in Hardin County.


Hiring Red, White & You! Veterans Job Fair

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Board members, Board and Center staff would like express sincere appreciation to the employers, services organizations, training institutions, and partners for their participation in the 3rd Annual Hiring Red, White and You! (RWY) Veterans Job Fair. Special thanks go to the City of Beaumont and Mayor Becky Ames for donating the use of the Beaumont Civic Center for this event. All businesses participating in the event received excellent support from the Civic Center staff, from setting up additional booths for employers and tables for job seekers. We look forward to your participation in 2015!

For the third consecutive month, Texas has set a record in job growth. For October 2014, the state's unemployment rate fell to 5.1 percent, adding 421,900 non-farm jobs.
