Building a Skilled Workforce: Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Celebrates Pre-Apprenticeship Success |
In January, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas embarked on a transformative journey by
partnering with Digital Workforce Academy (DWA) to launch an innovative Pipefitter Helper
Pre-Apprenticeship program. The program, designed to equip individuals with essential
skills and knowledge in pipefitting, commenced with a cohort of 15 eager students.
By April 4, 13 of our dedicated students proudly graduated, earning their certifications
from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). This milestone
wouldn't have been possible without the support of our community partners, especially the
Local First donation from Golden Triangle Polymers Company.
The graduation day wasn't just an end; it marked the beginning of exciting new journeys for
our graduates. We've been working closely with local contractors and employers, and we're
delighted to share that seven of our April graduates have already secured employment opportunities.
Even more exciting, an EPC contractor is considering hiring all 13 graduates for entry-level
positions at the Orange County Advanced Power project. This news comes alongside the upcoming
graduation of the Lowes Gable-NCCER grant cohort on May 17, promising even more success stories
ahead. Partnerships like these demonstrate Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas's ongoing commitment
to fostering talent, creating opportunities, and building a world class workforce for southeast Texas.
