EEOC Informational Seminars for Employers
Register by June 1, 2010
At some point in your life, you’ve probably experienced a communication gap, likely with a teenager or a parent. The resulting situation is often frustrating, or sometimes even humorous. But in the workplace, communication gaps color perceptions, expectations and negatively impact company morale and productivity.
In the first of two popular and entertaining seminars sponsored by Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, Joe Bontke returns to Beaumont to present “Supervising and Working with Generational Differences.” Bontke, the outreach manager and ombudsman for the Houston District office of U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, delivers a lively session where employers look at the emerging challenges of values and differences between generations. With his humorous style, Bontke helps businesses understand those differences, how to best supervise and motivate employees in all age groups and how to avoid situations escalating to critical and costly workplace disputes.
In his second seminar, “The Calamities of Cyber Speech,” Joe Bontke addresses the issue of business communications on the Internet, specifically, “is it appropriate (or smart) to leave electronic footprints of your thoughts and comments about employees … out there?”
Both seminars will be presented Thursday, June 10 at the Beaumont Workforce Center. The first seminar starts at 9 am; the second seminar will start at approximately 10 am. The seminars are no cost to employers. Seating is limited. Call the Center at 409.839.8045 (ext 3346 or 3345) to register by June 1.
