Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Operations during COVID-19

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, all local workforce solutions centers were closed to the public in an abundance of caution for the health of our job seekers, employers and staff. We want to remind individuals and employers that the majority of Workforce support and services are accessible on our website,, the CHAT Live! Feature, and via our toll free number, 1-877-834-5627. Labor market information, including employment statistics and wage data, is available on the site.

Employers, including those needing to hire additional 'essential' workers, can still post jobs in, view resumes, and contact individuals as specified in their profiles. Business are encouraged to utilize the Shared Work Program when needing to reduce employee's hours. Shared Work supplements wages lost due to reduction in hours worked with partial unemployment benefits. Employers that close their business may also submit Mass Claims for temporary or permanent layoff of employees.

Awards of Excellence
Each year, our workforce board members and staff host the awards ceremony to show our appreciation for successfully meeting personal goals, implementing innovative human resource strategies, and supporting initiative though ongoing partnership with workforce development. On March 3, 2020, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas celebrated individuals, employers, sponsors and partners at the 5th Annual Awards of Excellence luncheon at the Beaumont Event Centre. Take Note! US Census From the U.S. Census website: Invitations are being sent to all homes in the United States of America. Please respond, by phone, on-line or by mail.

March 12 - 20: Households began receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.
March 30 - April 1: The Census Bureau will count people who are experiencing homelessness over these three days.
March 31: By this date, the Census Bureau will send redistricting counts to states. This information is used to redraw legislative districts based on population changes.

Dr. Kerry Mix, executive vice president and provost, Lamar Institute of Technology, was appointed to the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board effective January 21, 2020.
