Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas workforce development board members approved
a proposed expanded Target Occupations list as part of its two-year strategic plan
modification.
Boards are required, through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), to submit a
plan modification every two years. The Plan takes into account factors, such as economic
changes, industry expansions, and even natural disasters, which may affect manpower demands
of local businesses.

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas honored the 2018 outstanding employers, job seekers,
sponsors and partners at its Board Meeting held Tuesday, March 5th at the Beaumont Event Centre.
Mrs. Anna Tanton, Administrator, Silsbee Oaks Healthcare LLP, and workforce board member, was the
event's guest speaker.
KAT Excavation and Construction LLC, located in Sour Lake, Texas, was recognized by Workforce
Solutions Southeast Texas for the 2nd consecutive year for their partnership and collaboration.
The company was selected at the 2018 Outstanding Local Employer of Excellence. Pictured

Al Barringer appointed to Workforce Board |
Dr. Albert Barringer, executive vice president and provost for Lamar State College Orange,
has been appointed to the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board. Barringer will
represent Adult Basic Education/Continuing Education for Orange County.

Latest Labor Market Stats |
The Beaumont - Port Arthur Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)
indicated an increase in unemployment for January 2019, 6.6 percent, up from 5.7 percent in December 2018.
