Southeast Texas Welcomes Jeffery Darby to Workforce Board
Mr. Jeffery Darby was appointed to the Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas board in June.
Mr. Darby, president of the Sabine Area Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, worked for the U.S.
Department of Labor as a wage and hour investigator for 33 years prior to his board appointment.
He served as a consultant for unions and employee-oriented firms to help enforce employee's
rights. Mr. Darby worked with the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District, conducted public
outreach programs, and trained numerous investigators. He brings a wealth of knowledge and
expertise for laws and regulations including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family
and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Freedom of Information act, just to name a few.
Mr. Darby serves the board's youth committee and on the planning, evaluation, and oversight
(PE&O) committee. Board members and staff welcome Mr. Darby and look forward to his support
and insight on workforce development in Southeast Texas.
He is the member representing organized labor, Jefferson County.
