Employers - Meet the Workforce of the Future!

Region 5 Education Service Center, Junior Achievement (JA) of the Golden Triangle, and Southeast Texas Human Resource Association (SETHRA) have joined forces with Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas to plan and present the 2015 Youth Career Expo, which is scheduled for October 15, 2015, at Ford Park complex. The Youth Expo is designed to showcase occupations, careers, education and training available in Southeast Texas to hundreds of 11th and 12th grade Career and Technology Education (CTE) students from Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin counties. "Our goal is really two-fold", according to Marilyn Smith, executive director for Workforce Solutions. "Businesses have the opportunity to demonstrate the high wage/high demand occupations available in Southeast Texas. In addition, we can help students understand that training and education for these occupations is also available through local skilled craft apprenticeships, training institutions, community colleges and universities."

Creating Portable Industry-Recognized Certifications

Preparing local job seekers with skills and training is part of our mission and vision for a world class competitive workforce and to support economic growth in local communities. In addition, we are responsible, along with our local and state leaders, to provide access to services which help prepare these workers for high growth, high demand occupational skills. The Industry-Recognized Skills Certification initiative is a newly announced program to support the Board's efforts to increase the number of workers with certifications for the growing industries in Southeast Texas.
