Job Fair for Beaumont ISD Employees

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas hosted a Job Fair for Beaumont ISD employees on June 24th at the BISD Administration Annex building.The Beaumont ISD district administration requested Workforce Solutions assistance for their employees after the school board declared a financial emergency and announced a reduction in force in early June. Numerous school districts from the local area and other locations as far as Midland and Odessa attended the event.

By Thursday, June 19th, the Job Fair was at maximum capacity with 62 confirmed employers. On the day of the Job Fair, June 24th, several school districts needing to hire certified, experienced personnel were still requesting a booth at the event. Tables were set up in the hallways to accommodate the additional businesses.


Workforce B2B Network Puts Employers in the know.

The Port Arthur Workforce Solutions Center held their quarterly information and networking meeting for employers to meet with other local business representatives and learn about workforce services. Employer representatives introduced themselves to the group, talked about their companyís products, and shared business cards. Refreshments for the attendees was sponsored two locally owned eateries, Miss Bís Take Out and Sweet Cheeks Macaroons, and Walmart.


Service & Retail Industries Recruit Employees at the Workforce

Industrial service providing businesses and retailers sponsored the lionís share of customized hiring events in the Workforce Centers. With assistance from Employer Solutions Specialists at the Centers, retailers such as Rue 21, Advanced Auto Parts, RGIS, and PETCO utilized classrooms at the Centers to recruit and interview Cashiers, Stockers, Sales Associates, Inventory Specialists and Merchandisers. Companies recruited on-site for other support occupations such as custodians, building cleaners, and general laborers. Companies that provide construction related services for local refineries, such as Kinder Morgan, ABM, and Taylor Smith Consulting, interviewed for maintenance mechanics, journeyman electricians, janitorial staff, heavy equipment operators, hydro-blasters, and tank cleaners.
