Providing Rapid Response Services during COVID-19
Rapid Response provides early intervention assistance designed to transition workers to their next employment as soon as possible. These services are customized, based on the needs of the company and the needs of the affected employees. Any Southeast Texas employer laying off workers may request Rapid Response services for their employees. Rapid Response services cover the following topics:
  • Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) - Orientation
  • Unemployment Insurance information regarding basic eligibility for benefits & how to apply
  • Trade Adjustment Assistance and Benefits
  • Information regarding Career services including labor market, wages, and training scholarships
  • Employment services guidance including:
    • Job application and résumé preparation
    • Assessing accomplishments and skills
    • Interviewing skills and effective interviewing techniques
    • Accessing community resources
    • Effective utilization of WorkInTexas.com
In July, Southeast Texas employers submitted Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices indicating as many as 350 workers were projected to lose their jobs in the near future, at no fault of their own, due to COVID-19 related business closures and reductions in force (RIF).
