Paycheck Protection Program Extended
On July 6, 2020, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for businesses was extended through August 8, 2020. PPP was created to provide economic relief to businesses and help companies retain their workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data from the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce indicates several businesses throughout Southeast Texas have participated in the program and saved thousands of local jobs:

County Amount / Millions Jobs Saved Number of Recipients
Hardin $15.4 2,201 412
Orange $21.1 3,458 620
Jefferson $94.7 15,105 2,484

PPP forms have also been revised to help simplify the process for businesses to apply for loan forgiveness. Information regarding the Paycheck Protection Program is available at this link.
