Workforce Solutions Orange Reopens

Come on in — Yes we're open! The Workforce Solutions Center in Orange re-opened its doors on July 14, 2014. Previously located on Green Avenue in the City of Orange, the center is now located in Putnam Plaza — 2415 16th Street. The new location is very visible and easily accessible for the public.

The center is approximately 3200 square feet and has all of the necessities for customers to conduct their job search and space available to accommodate employers as needed. While the physical location is a smaller space, the services provided to job seekers and employers will continue as previous. The center serves approximately 100 people per day.


Region 5 ESC will provide Adult Education and Literacy for Southeast Texas

Region 5 Education Service Center has received a Notice of Grant Award from the Texas Workforce Commission to administer Adult Education and Literacy programs for the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Area, which consists of Jefferson, Hardin, and Orange counties.

Region 5 Education Service Center's Adult Education program has served Jasper, Newton, and Tyler counties and a portion of Orange County for more than thirty years. Services are expanded to the entire Southeast Texas Workforce Development Area of Jefferson, Hardin, and Orange counties. The new program's goal is to serve a minimum of 1650 adult students in the Southeast Texas Workforce Area.

Workforce Board Welcomes New Board Members
The Workforce Board welcomes the appointment of two (2) new members. Mr. Patrick Ervin, Integrated Service Manager for Texas Workforce Commission and Mr. Cliff Hardeman, Executive Board Members with the NAACP.

Latest Labor Market Stats

Texas continues to lead the nation in job growth activity and added over 19,000 jobs for June 2014. In Southeast Texas, we experienced a slight increase in our unemployment rate as the number of unemployed workers increased by 1 percent and the UI rate increased from 7.4 percent in May 2014 to 7.9 percent for June 2014.
