June Labor Market Figures
After seeing mixed improvement for Southeast Texas last month, the unemployment numbers for June showed a slight increase. The majority of counties in the area, with the exception of Hardin County, only experienced an increase of less than 1%.
“Although the unemployment figures increased from last month, the good news is that when compared to last year at this same time, almost all counties showed improvement. We are encouraged by this result and will continue to work tirelessly with employers in the area to move the numbers towards a positive trend,” said Marilyn Smith, executive director of Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas.
