Welcome Our Newest Board Member

Bookmark and Share

It’s because of the commitment and leadership of our volunteer board that we are able to achieve what we do for the labor market in Southeast Texas. This month, we welcome our newest board member, Jerry Wayne Pillsbury. As a Union Organizer for the Sabine Area Labor Council, Jerry Wayne is passionate about helping people get jobs that provide the security of good wages, insurance and pensions for workers and their families.

Jerry Wayne’s first job was as a pipefitter and though he’s a Beaumont native, his career led him to employment across the country -- eventually working in 23 different states before returning to Texas. In today’s job market, his advice to people looking for work is to “get good training.”

“We want people to have the types of jobs where they can support themselves, their families and be able to enjoy the rewards of all their hard work in their retirement years,” said Pillsbury. “We want to help create those types of jobs in Southeast Texas and train our job seekers to be successful at those jobs.”

In addition to his work with the Sabine Area Labor Council, Jerry Wayne is also involved with Pipefitters Local 195 and serves as Sargent in Arms for the Sabine Area Building Trades. Naturally as a native Southeast Texan, he enjoys hunting, fishing and playing a little guitar.
