Southeast Texas Works! Podcast Update January 2024
Dr. Brian Crain, Dean of the College of Engineering, Lamar University, was the guest on our first podcast of 2024. Dr. Craig, an engineer with multiple degrees, touted the success of Lamar University's engineering program and its ranking as the best high educational return-on-investment for students in Texas. He speaks of the dynamic environment of engineering and explains the 'human factor', the topic of one of his doctorate studies. Craig also shares his personal career story and talks about Lamar University's engineering students being much-sought after by companies throughout Southeast Texas.

Later in January, we moved on to the energy industry and featured Paul Blackburn, Customer Service Manager for Entergy Texas. Blackburn, housed at Entergy Texas in Beaumont, explains his family history with the company and discussed the complex tasks involved with keeping the area's power grid up and running in all weather conditions. He shares insight into the many careers available and confirms that linemen are the industry's 'rock stars'. Blackburn emphasizes Entergy Texas' commitment to supporting local communities through economic development and charitable donations.
