With the start of 2015, Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board has welcomed two new Chief elected Officials (CEO). Judge Stephen Brint Carlton is the new County Judge for Orange County and replaces Judge Carl Thibodeaux, who served as Orange County Judge and workforce CEO from 1996 through 2014. Carlton is a lifelong resident of Orange, graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School and received his law degree from St. Mary's University. The Honorable Judge Stephen Brint Carlton was sworn into office on January 1, 2015. Workforce Board members look forward to his expertise and leadership in the coming future.

Ms. Sue Daniels, Owner and Director of the Early Learning Pre-School and Child Care Center, has assumed the position of Board Chair of the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board. She assumes the unexpired term of Chuck Kalkbrenner, AT&T.
Ms. Daniels has a rich background in business and personnel management as being the owner of her child care and development center for more than twenty-five years. As a former teacher and school principal, Daniels will be able to use her knowledge of education and youth to help develop workforce initiatives such as year-round internships and mentoring programs.

Texas Business Conference Comes to Beaumont |
The Texas Workforce Commission's (TWC) Business Conference will be held in Beaumont, Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Holiday Inn Walden Road. This highly rated event is sponsored each year at various locations throughout the State of Texas by the Office of the Commissioner Representing Employers.

Southeast Texas experienced strong job growth in the Service industry, Retail Trade, and Transportation and Utilities for December 2014. The Unemployment Rate stands at 6.4 percent for our workforce development area, which includes Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin counties.
