Although Southeast Texas’ December unemployment rate inched up by .8 percent, local employers
are still utilizing the workforce centers to recruit and hire new employees. In the last three months of
2012, 75 businesses partnered with Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas to recruit from more than
800 job seekers. Those positions included mechanical engineers, inventory specialists, security
officers, truck drivers, health care specialists, operators, riggers, valve technicians, and
hydro-blasters.
Occupations in construction/extraction, transportation/material moving, and production continue to
lead with the largest number of job openings in Southeast Texas.
