JobBRIEF December 2017 ι Vol. 8 Issue 11
Our Vision - "A world-class competitive workforce for Southeast Texas."
Happy New Year, Southeast Texas!
As 2017 comes to a close, we are grateful for the steady recovery in our area after Hurricane Harvey. We all have different perspectives based upon our personal experiences from the natural disaster, however, we take comfort in the solutions we have initiated to help solve the challenges of rebuilding and recovery.

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, with funding through the National Disaster Grant, has subsidized wages for more than 100 temporary workers employed by local counties, municipalities, community-based organizations and other recovery agencies. The temporary employees may have experienced job dislocation or job loss, and as a result, were unemployed due to the hurricane. These temporary workers are vital to continued disaster recovery and perform various jobs such as office assistant, call center technician, maintenance mechanic, outreach specialist, warehouse assistant, and case manager, just to name a few.

For 2018, we will continue to foster economic and business partnerships to strengthen the area’s employment and economic outlook. Collectively, though our shared experiences, we will continue to work to solve challenges and create solutions for effective recovery and improvement in Southeast Texas.

Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas board members, administrative and workforce center staff, extend our hope to you for a prosperous, safe and Happy New Year.
