April's episode of Southeast Texas Works! spotlights a leadership transition at Lamar State College Orange (LSCO). Our guests are Dr.
Thomas Johnson, the outgoing President of LSCO, and Dr. Wendy Elmore, the incoming President who currently serves as Provost and Executive
Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. Together, they reflected on the college's remarkable progress and discussed what lies
ahead for students, faculty, and industry partners in Southeast Texas.

During his seven-year tenure, Dr. Johnson, led LSCO through a historic period of expansion and innovation. Under his leadership,
the college introduced more than 40 new vocational and workforce programs, earned national accolades-including being named a Phi
Theta Kappa Champion for Student Success-and achieved record-breaking enrollment. His legacy is one of accessibility, excellence,
and deep alignment with the evolving needs of the Southeast Texas workforce.

Dr. Wendy Elmore, who has played a pivotal role in shaping LSCO's academic and student success strategies, shared her vision
for the future as she prepares to take the leadership role. A strong advocate for industry collaboration and educational equity,
Dr. Elmore emphasizes expanding partnerships with local employers, enhancing student resources, and creating innovative learning
opportunities that equip graduates with the skills to thrive. She also brings a regional perspective to her leadership as a board member
of the Southeast Texas Workforce Development Board, where she actively contributes to aligning education and workforce priorities across the region.

Dr. Johnson and Dr. Elmore discussed their leadership transition, the opening of LSCO's new Academic Building and Welcome Center,
the introduction of a state-of-the-art maritime training vessel, and the college's participation in regional initiatives such as the
Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas Teacher Externship program.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone invested in the future of Southeast Texas-from educators and students to employers and community leaders.
