Register today for the Connect to Your Future Summit! |
The Connect to Your Future Summit is scheduled for September 28, 2023, 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
at the Beaumont Event Center. This event will bring together area businesses, employers,
educators, economic developers, and workforce leaders. This is the first annual Connect
to Your Future Summit, the counterpart to the annual "Youth Career Expo" held each February.
The Youth Career Expo hosts an estimated 3,300 students from Southeast Texas schools,
offering an interactive learning experience.
The summit will establish new connections for community partners making a difference.
Guest Speaker, Rich Froeschle, Senior Labor Market Economist, Texas State Technical
College, will provide an update on labor market trends and provide strategies to establish
talent pipelines for the local workforce. Froeschle will be speaking on "Moving from
Coordination to Integration: A Labor Market Approach."

"Southeast Texas Works!" PODCAST UPDATE
In August, we released the "ExxonMobil 409 energy Scholars" podcast featuring Andrew
Ortiz with ExxonMobil. Ortiz, Public and Government Affairs Advisor, speaks on the
growth of the Scholars initiative. The innovative outreach program provides students
with a once in a lifetime opportunity to be on-site at a manufacturing refinery and
experience a future career path in chemical manufacturing and production. Ortiz
expresses the company's intentional engagement with the students, parents, businesses,
and school districts located on the Beaumont ExxonMobil 'fence-line'.
The podcast, "Industry forums - Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas", with guest Stan
Odenthal, CEO, Odenthal Group, and a workforce development strategist, was also released
in August. Odenthal assisted Southeast in creating its strategic plan and has worked
with other workforce boards around the United States. He speaks about the importance
of business' participation upcoming forums and how their input has a direct impact on
the region's approach to developing a workforce to sustain economic growth. Employers

Take Note: Employers: Attend the Governor's Small Business Summit October 5th in
Beaumont
Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas will join the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) in
the presentation of the 2023 Small Business Summit, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at
the Holiday Inn Plaza, Walden Road. Business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs who
attend the seminar learn about state and federal employment laws and the unemployment
claim and appeal process. Event speakers will answer any questions you have regarding
your business. Participants will receive a binder, "Especially for Texas Employers"
manual, and copies of presentations.
