Texas Workforce Commission Chairman and Commissioner Representing the Public, Andres
Alcantar, was guest speaker at the April 10th Business Development Week session. Chairman
Alcantar spoke to a group of attendees about TWC’s services and programs designed to create an
effective workforce system and promote economic growth for individuals, communities, and
businesses. Alcantar also spoke about the positive business climate in Texas mentioning that the
state leads the nation in business growth, development, and employment.

One incentive through the Texas Workforce Commission is Skills for Veterans which offers an efficient way for employers that hire returning Veterans reduce training costs.

Over $1 million has been dedicated to enhance the skills sets of Veterans, especially post 9/11
veterans who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn or Operation Enduring
Freedom.
